Mileage? Does it drive more like a Prius or an SUV? Do you get the fun battery animation on a screen anywhere? Does it have a “B” gear?

My DD is a LS400. A pretty one. My family has a total of 5 Lexi and 4 Toyotas.

340,000 miles. Its all wheel drive so I like how it drives better then my fiances ‘09 RX350 with 1/4 the miles but it drives so comfortably so not like a Prius at all. Then Yes. And Yes.

How is it still alive, I’ve always stayed away from looking at the used GS450h and LS600hLs because I’ve read those one or two rare cases where it needs a battery replacement for like ONE MEELIION DOLLARS.
Has there been any large maintenance jobs?

The batteries are not that expensive I believe. They dont give up that often but it does cost what a nicer transmission would. I say go for it. Ive heard the parts guy at Lexus say the GS450h scared him far more then the IS-F.

Im not blocking the left lane but I am using the HOV lane correctly and at speed(because in Tennessee they allow you to have a HOV sticker on your hybrids no matter how many people. And no, but I have been downing Diet Cokes because I dont like coffee but need caffeine.

I think he meant “gas mileage.” Or at least I do. MPG?
How many years have your driven it & what repairs have you needed?
And how did you put 340k miles on a vehicle that’s not your daily driver (your earlier comment says your DD is an LS400)?

Gas mileage is like 24 or so with a bad break booster (which means the battery isnt getting charged as much)
We’ve had it somehwere around a year. Bought it from the customer for cheap because the brake booster is like 3500 installed but since we fix them its a lot cheaper for us to do it. Other then that nothing. The battery is even original.
Customer we bought it from did. He was a sales rep.

Damn autocorrect sorry. Yep, I had a ‘93 ES300 manual. Loved that car... The clean styling, perfect interior and it handled pretty good for FWD. But blew a head gasket and developed front end issues at the same time creating repair costs exceeding value.

Those things are great. Wear and tear over the years is the front end stuff. How adamant were you about changing the oil? I dont think Opponauts are bad at changing it on time, but those are generally pretty good.

I was admittedly pretty bad about it... I bought it used and had it in grad school so it was pretty neglected. Which reminds me, my wife’s Subaru is due for service which she is awful about so I need to call and schedule that tomorrow or it will never get done.

Well its our 8th vehicle so it doesnt get driven as much. We bought it with 330k or so. Its like a Prius in but maintenance but it cost a bit more becauase bigger engine and so on if i remember right. Also all wheel drive.

Cars will last forever as long as they get taken care of. Especially Toyota. My LS400 has 298k, my sisters GS300(before she totaled it) had 305k, our extra RX400h has 340k, and our FJ40 has a lot but the odometer rolls over and its on 35" tires so there is no telling.

Well built cars will. Unfortunately, some cars really do cost more to maintain than they are worth due to awful parts/designs that even though they *could* last to 300k+ they get scrapped by 100k. Growing up we had a Windstar. Ford put in what was basically a stock Taurus drivetrain that wasn’t engineered to hold the extra weight added to the platform. No matter how much maintenece you do, they fail early and often. At some point transmission and engine rebuilds on an older car stop making sense unless you really really love it. Hopefully someone rescued my Lexus, because it was cool enough to be worth it, but I was too broke to deal with it. I suspect it was probably auctioned and parted out though. Now I know better and can also afford some repairs, so I hope to keep my two newish cars to somewhere near 200k. Especially because once I have 2 paid off boring cars, I can afford a 3rd fun but less practical one.

Or like our family you could own 7 boring but very practical and one really fun haha. Were trying to find an early 80s Supra though to make it 2 really fun cars and 9 total. And that doesn’t even count the camping trailer and the car trailer. 10 vin #s total.

FJ40 the fun one?
Yeah 2nd-gen Supras are pretty rare. I don't think many were sold here period. Lots of 3rd gen for sale but not many clean ones.

How does it drive? Does it feel like it has that many miles on it? Hows the interior and exterior holding up (paint, leather, stereo)? Curious about the stereo cause my dad’s ‘06 MDX has the Bose system and its gotten progressively worse throughout the years and I’m curious to how other older cars hold up.

Drives nice, the interior is very nice even after all these years, the forst major thing (the weird RX) center console wont close, other then that the black interior is in great shape. The hybrid system is definitely tired but its not awful. Radio sounds good, has the Original speakers but last owner put a pioneer touchscreen thing in it.
